This survey paper investigates the current state of visualization for large-scale, complex biological networks, identifying scientific gaps arising among experts in practical biological network visualization.
Our co-authored paper has also been accepted for publication in the Journal of Visualization.
Do Boxes Affect Exploration Behavior and Performance in Group-in-a-box Layouts?, Yuki Ueno, Hiroaki Natsukawa, Koji Koyamada, Journal of Visualization, 1-14 (2024)
This study examines, through user experiments including eye-tracking, how visual elements such as boxes impact the accuracy of graph-reading tasks within group-in-a-box (GIB) layouts, an efficient graph drawing method designed for visualizing group structures in graphs.
